Cathy Mee BSc.(Hons), MChiro, DC
Chiropractor

Cathy Mee, MSc(Chiro), DC, is a doctor of chiropractic who graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic. She also holds a BSc(Hons) in Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University. Cathy started her healthcare career in the NHS as an accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist where she spent 10 years working with one of the UK's largest vascular surgical teams. This role equipped Cathy with a deep understanding of the body’s anatomy and diseases associated with blood vessels, and she can perform in-house vascular Doppler assessment for preliminary diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease (PVD).
Cathy has several years of experience as a lecturer and clinical tutor at AECC University College. There, she trained undergraduate and clinical-year students and helped develop the skills of future chiropractors and sports therapists.
Cathy is skilled in Western medical acupuncture, having developed her expertise through the British Medical Acupuncture Society. She is also a recognised Shockwave therapist, utilising EMS Swiss-Dolorclast technology for tendon regeneration.
In her early career, Cathy was based in Bournemouth, where she opened two popular clinics on the south coast: 'The Bournemouth Chiropractor' and the 'Bournemouth Shockwave Referral Centre.' In March 2020, she moved to Dunblane to establish Chiropractic Plus.
Cathy Mee has been fascinated by healthcare since she was a little girl thumbing through the pages of the Reader’s Digest Medical Encyclopaedia. At the age of 12, she watched an equine chiropractor treat horses in her family’s equestrian business, witnessing remarkable results. Horses that were once difficult to ride became calm and pain-free overnight, which greatly influenced her career choice. In addition to her healthcare pursuits, Cathy remains passionate about horses. Her furry family includes a young Clydesdale-cross horse and her truffle-hunting hound.
Cathy is qualified to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal conditions without requiring a referral from a GP. Her services include biomechanical assessment, chiropractic manipulation, remedial massage, dry cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM), medical acupuncture, sports taping, and shockwave therapy. Patients with conditions outside her scope of practice will be referred to their General Practitioner.
**PLEASE NOTE:**
The term "chiropractor" is legally protected in the UK. It is a criminal offence for anyone to use the title "chiropractor" unless they are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). Similar to other health professions, including medical practitioners and dentists, all chiropractors must be registered under the Chiropractors Act 1994.
Practising as a chiropractor in the UK without registration with the GCC is illegal. Registration must be renewed annually, and chiropractors are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each year to maintain their registration.
